It’s been my experience that Visual Site Designer is defective in that it looses links to files after having shut down your computer, seemingly if you have a design that has a larger than normal size, for instance if you use music files, and also if you have different designs of a website on your computer that you’ve designed using VSD. It seems to have been less a problem – not as many missing links using XP as it is now with Vista – now it seems to loose most if not all of the music files along with some images. As such over the years I’ve had to continually go back and re-assign missing links. Does that mean it’s an “unstable” program? Don’t know if that’s the correct term computer jargon wise or not. I’ve called Coffee Cups “help” over the past three years and never had a satisfactory solution to the problem and just put up with VSD’s malfunction –just ended up going back and reassigning the files that it couldn’t find – files that it had re-created in it’s own folder. But when it was apparent the problem was worse with Vista, and again contacted CC’s technical “help”, and after wasting more time- two more 30 minute sessions and still not coming up with a solution, decided I wasn’t going to tolerate anymore their evasive reasoning and lack of acknowledging that their program wasn’t working right, and so I said I was going to have to take the problem to management. And so I sent a Manager (supposedly a Manager) an email detailing the problem and what I thought was the unsatisfactory “help”. Evidentially the “help” went into or had gone into a preemptive defensive attack, slandering mode, and then the Manager simply parroted their slander in his email back to me, rather than acting like a leader and objectively looking at the problem- parroting their slander and lies and their rationale that the program works fine – that’s it’s just simply my fault in not using it right – moved around files, etc., which I showed them was false. But it didn’t matter what I showed them – they wouldn’t listen to reason, all of which belies the “cool” image they like to project of their company. So it’s just a $50 program and I guess at least in Coffee Cup’s case you get what you pay for, and based on the behavior of their help and their extremely poor manager I could not more highly recommend that anyone stay away from VSD or any of their other products.
